Private Referrals/Private Health Funds

A referral from a GP or other healthcare specialist is not required to see a psychologist. You can refer yourself by contacting Yage Kang Psychology via email, text, or phone call. A referral from a GP or other healthcare specialist is not required to see a psychologist. Please note that private referrals (without a Mental Health Care Plan) are not eligible for Medicare rebates, and the full standard consultation fee is payable. You have the option to self-fund the consultation fee, or you may be eligible to claim rebates through your Private Health Fund. We recommend checking with your health fund for more information.

Better Access Initiative: Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

A MHCP allows you to receive a rebate of $96.65 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. To be eligible for Medicare rebate under a Mental Health Care Plan, you can require a referral from a general practitioner (GP) or psychiatrist.

The referring practitioner should provide you with:
(a) a referral letter addressed to Yage Kang or Yage Kang Psychology; and
(b) a copy of the Mental Health Care Plan.

Please provide Yage with a copy of the GP referral letter and Mental Health Care Plan via email prior to your initial consultation.

Consultation Fees

The full consultation fee of $235.00. For Telehealth, it is required to be paid at least 24 hours prior to your session. An invoice will be emailed to you two days before your session. As per Yage Kang psychology policy, if payment is not received, your session will be cancelled.

The 2024 Medicare rebate is $93.35 (this amount increases annually in July). This equates to an out-of-pocket cost of $141.65. Following payment and session attendance, the Medicare rebate is deposited into your nominated bank account by Medicare within 24-48 hours.

Cancellation Fees

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice provided are subject to a 50% cancellation fee, equating to $117.50. However, we understand that emergencies can arise, and plans may need to change unexpectedly. If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, please inform us as soon as possible.

Yage Kang Psychology does not offer bulk billing.

Please note: The Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended 46 to 60-minute consultation fee is $300.00.
